Definitely needed to smile today - so enjoy my "pick-me-up"
- Don't squat with your spurs on.
- Don't interfere with something that isn't bothering you none.
- If you find yourself in a hole, first thing to do is stop digging.
- Always drink upstream from the herd.
- Telling a man to go git and making him do it are two entirely different propositions.
- When you give a personal lesson in meanness to a critter or to a person don't be surprised if they learn their lesson.
- If you're riding ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure they are still back there.
- The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket.
- It you get to thinking you're a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else's dog around.
- And never, ever, miss a good opportunity to shut up.
Mares and Their Foals (1982)
One of my hidden talents?
I painted this way back in 1982 on black velveteen - it took 11 months to complete ... There are no brush strokes, rather layer upon layer upon layer of dots of paint (for instance the belly of the largest mare is 12 coats of white, whilst her nose area is either no paint at all or a single layer of dots). Fairly difficult as the complete picture is initially "dotted" in white paint, and then colour added. Each layer had to dry first or you clog the velvet and "flatten" the overall effect of the painting.
Sadly, I stopped painting shortly after completing it ... long story ... perhaps I shoud pick up a brush again?
Last night I was asked by one of my students to come and view their matric art exhibition. She was soooooo excited when I said ok! The artwork was sweet and a few pieces stood out that I have added below.
Micaela, my student painted the piece "Eye of Flight", and a friend of hers by the name of Claire (unfortunately no surnames provided) painted the other two which were technically good and had purpose and meaning to them. I especially liked the one she called "Be careful what you wish for" as I have been spending a lot of time working through emotional and motivating issues.
Then today, I read ... "The power of each thought resonates far into the future" which just seems to emphasise what I saw in Claire's paintings.
Feeling like a human again :) thank heavens! Thanks to those who sent me messages of support, and Marie, a very special thanks to you for sharing so much of your wisdom with me ... Thank you!
Listening to something playing on the radio earlier and one line of the song leapt out at me:
"There's a moment when fear and dreams must collide ..."
Hmmm .... have heard this song 100s and 100s of times and have never ever heard that line!

You are a star - I'll pass that on to his owner! (A very proud mommy indeed!) read more
